Book 3 Project 2-26-13

I painted my main Character Max with her gaze in the distance and her wings blow in the direction of the wind. Max is a strong main character and is the Hero of this book. She puts others before herself and makes decisions based on them not what she wants. She would be considered a romantic hero since she is an outcast of society. The reason she’s looking in the other direction is because she’s thinking if her next move, where to go next, how to get there, will it help my flock? She tries to blend in with the norm when she and the flock travel to New York City. But she realizes even though it’s nice not to stand out so much they can’t lie about WHAT they are.

Refection 2/19/13

The most memorable villain in literature is The Joker from Batman. The rea son i chose the Joker is because for as long as Batman has been around so has the Joker. He’s in comics, books, cartoons, and movies.
The reason i believe the Joker is so Memorable is because of what he is. A crazy man in makeup who just wants the destruction of humanity, or humanity to see how curl it truly is a tear itself apart. He represents the darker side of humanity and the chaos it causes.
For example in the movie The Dark Knight. The Joker rigs two ships with explosives. He gives each ship the detonator to the other. And in order to survive they have to blow up the other before midnight where they would both blow up. One ship was full of civilians and the other full of criminals. He uses this as a test knowing that for the sake of their lives people will turn into animals and kill the other to save themselves.
So matter what way the Joker is conveyed makeup wise. we all still identify him as the evilest of all evil because all he wants is chaos and the destruction of all humanity there is no specifics hes after just everybody no one is safe from his wrath.

Reflection 2/11/13

1. The Capture of Angel
In the beginning the flock wakes up and starts to plan out their day in there hidden home in the mountains. The youngest angel suggests they pick strawberries. While the group is searching for the berries Angel is snatched up by Erasers (werewolf like creatures) sent by the school (the place that gave them the wings). The flock springs into the air chasing them and fighting them off to save Angel.
The reason this is an important moment is because of the sudden intensity of the chase and fight. James Patterson drops us right into the middle of the action while your still trying to figure out what the kids are and how they got that way. This scene starts their whole adventure and new battle against The School.
2. When Max gets hurts and seeks the help of normal people
This is an important scene because it breaks one of the major taboos of the flock, who were taught never to trust regular people or to show themselves to regular people. The way she gets into this mess though is very character shaping since Max gets hurt trying to protect an innocent child from harm.
3. Escaping the School the second time
This is an important scene because of the intensity of escaping certain doom. It also shows the flock working together and showing their skills in teamwork. They over power the Erasers by using the hawks that have adopted them as one of their own.

Reflection 1/29/13

For me it’s ok to twist the truth just a little in a non-fiction book. The reason I say this is because the word “fiction”.  Yes it has to have some facts or else there’s no point in the difference. If they’re small changes that’s fine real life needs a push to be eye grabbing for anyone to care to read about it. For example a conversation here or there that never happened to move the plot along is ok
Some People say otherwise, they say that for it to be labeled “non-fiction” that it has to be 100% TRUE. But where is the fun? Who wants to read day to day life? I understand if it’s a war story or a big accomplishment or somebodies epic journey to somewhere magnificent.  But if it’s just about some celebrity it’s not worth my time or anyone else’s. I think non-fiction is one of the hardest genres to write considering it has to actually happen. Most of the non-fiction I read is mainly dealing with social issues and how they impact the community and the lives of others.
So I believe its ok to make up something’s  in order to benefit the story.

Book 2 Project

“Words. Borne on the ever swelling current of hatred, like flowers opening in the current, petals peeling back, then falling apart.” The Vampire Lestat, I based my painting off of this quote form my book. This relates to my book because social order is a big thing in my book. and if you start using negative  words towards others you risk everything you have and stand for as a person. The reason this is so important is because Lestat sees that vampires should hold themselves up as equals to human were as other vampire groups see that they are below them and are suppose to lurk in the shadows instead of the spot light. another way my painting relates to my book is a vampire can also be seen as a fake flower never aging and never dieing forever capturing the beauty.
