A book
is a gateway, a gateway to a new world, to a new point of view, to a whole new
life. For me reading on a kindle or iPad is like reading on a brick I can’t
focus, I can’t get comfortable, they’re awkwardly shaped, too big or to small
and you have to adjust the brightness the word size. There are way too many distractions
when using them who would to just read when you could surf the web, shop online
etc.
A book
isn’t just words, it’s a perfect harmony of that sweet rain smell of the pages
and however you sit it’ll fit perfectly in your lap. The only distraction maybe
technology, music’s too loud, TV’s on. There nothing that can compare to that
comfort, I especially enjoy getting into my favorite sweat pants and curling up
on the couch with my cat and book in my lap. If your cat so much as sniffs your
iPad you could lose your page, your whole book, or open a whole new browser and
send the machine into a complete breakdown.
So we
don’t just read for the words we read for how those words make us feel, how
comfortable we are when we read them. Nothing beats reading your book and your
cat pokes his head over it. So no more technology reading.... for the sake of
cats.

I can't really relate to your mention of cats, but I can understand your quote, "we read for how those words make us feel." That should be the real reason why we read.
ReplyDeleteI like that you said ereaders are like brick and how you can't get comfortable reading them. They're kinda awkward and it just helps to have the familiarity of books.
